Switching tools
Coming from another tracking tool, for example MyCoach Pro? This guide walks, in order, through what strivn can import today: your roster and your GPS sessions. It relies on the imports open to every team; it works for any tool that exports tables.
What comes over, and what does not
Section titled “What comes over, and what does not”| Data | Brought into strivn |
|---|---|
| Roster (first name, last name, phone, position, number, email) | Yes, by copy-paste from a spreadsheet, when the team is created |
| GPS sessions | Yes, one session at a time, from your GPS provider’s original file or a table export |
| Wellness, injury, load and test history | No, not today |
1. Prepare your exports
Section titled “1. Prepare your exports”- Roster: get your players’ list into a spreadsheet (Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers…), through an Excel or CSV export from your former tool or by copying the list. Put the columns in this order: First name, Last name, Phone, Position, Number, Email. Only the first and last names are required.
- GPS: start preferably from the original files exported from your provider’s software (Catapult OpenField, STATSports, SPT GameTraka): strivn reads them directly. Failing that, use a session’s CSV or Excel export from your former tool, as a table with one row per player.
- The rest: before closing your former account, download everything it lets you export, including what strivn does not import (wellness, injuries, loads, tests). It is your history: keep it somewhere safe.
2. Create the team and paste the roster
Section titled “2. Create the team and paste the roster”- Click My teams → New team (see Getting started).
- In Prepare my season, at the Players step, choose Enter the players.
- In your spreadsheet, copy the player rows without the header row.
- Click in the first First name cell of the table and paste (Ctrl+V or ⌘V). Each column lands in the order First name, Last name, Phone, Position, Number, Email.
- Check the valid and errors counters: a flagged row (invalid number, duplicate number…) is fixed directly in the table.
- Click Create roster and finish.
The phone is optional. When you fill it in, preferably use the international format (+32 470 12 34 56): the player is invited through this number or the email.
3. Import a GPS session
Section titled “3. Import a GPS session”The GPS module must be switched on for the team. Each import belongs to one session or match in the calendar: create it first in the calendar on its date if it does not exist yet.
- Open the session’s review from Session results, GPS data card (or the Imports page of the GPS module).
- Choose the session’s file or files, then click Import. Accepted formats: CSV or XLSX (10 MB), or SPT .gt (15 MB). If your platform limits the number of players per export, select several files: they are matched together.
- On the first import, strivn asks Which GPS system do you use?: Catapult, STATSports, SPT / GameTraka or Other provider (any CSV or XLSX table export). The choice is kept for the team; you can change it in the GPS settings.
- On the matching screen, say which player each row of the export belongs to. strivn remembers these names: on later imports, the same players are recognised on their own.
- strivn recognises the usual columns by itself (total distance, top speed, player load). If a column is not recognised, especially with Other provider, correct it in the team Settings: GPS metric mapping, and Speed zones and bands for the zones. See GPS — speed bands.
Repeat the import for each session you want to find in strivn: there is no bulk import of GPS history today.
4. What does not come over today
Section titled “4. What does not come over today”Wellness, injury, load and physical test history cannot be imported into strivn today. Keep your former tool’s original export to look things up. In strivn, this tracking starts with the first check-ins, the first session reviews and the injuries you declare in medical tracking.
5. Invite the players
Section titled “5. Invite the players”When the season is activated, each player whose phone or email you filled in receives an invitation by email and WhatsApp to join the team. Players have no account or password to create: see Install the player app.
And if you leave one day?
Section titled “And if you leave one day?”Your tracking records can be exported at any time, in Excel and CSV, from the team Settings. See Your data.
