Trial players

A trial player trains with the group for a defined period (typically 1–2 weeks) before the club decides whether to sign them. STRIVN treats them like an active player day to day — call-ups, attendance, evaluations — while keeping them out of the team statistics and limiting their portal access. The trial closes with a recorded decision: Sign, Don’t sign or Extend.

Adding a trial player

1. Open Roster, then Manual entry.
2. Fill in the form (first name, last name, phone recommended — it powers the portal invite and lets STRIVN recognise the player if they come back later).
3. Switch on Trial player at the bottom of the form.
4. Set Trial start date and Expected trial end date, then click Add player.

The player joins the roster immediately, badged Trial, with no onboarding interview: they are operational from the first session.

Tip

The Trial tab at the top of the Roster page filters the list down to players currently on trial.

What the trial status changes

• Day to day, nothing: the player receives call-ups, appears in attendance and can be rated after every session.
• Team statistics: they are excluded from team averages and aggregates (team load, collective readiness, signals, reports) so your baselines stay honest. Their individual data remains visible on their page.
• Automated messages: they don’t receive automated player prompts (morning check-in, RPE reminders…). The call-ups you send still reach them normally.
• Player portal: their access is limited to the agenda, and only up to the expected trial end date — nothing beyond that date is visible to them. If you extend the trial, their horizon extends automatically.

Following the trial — the Trial tab

The player page gains a Trial tab with the trial history: dates, status, scorecard and accrued evaluations.

Status	Meaning
Trial in progress	The period is running, no decision recorded.
Decision due	The expected end has passed without a decision — decide or extend.
Signed	The player was kept and converted to a permanent player.
Not signed	The trial ended without a signing; the player is archived.

Accrued evaluations list the ratings recorded during the trial window through the session review (attendance, rating /10, observation). Click a row to reopen the original review — this is your raw material when it’s time to decide.

Sign, don’t sign or extend

From the Trial tab, three actions close or extend the period:

• Extend — pick a new expected end. The player’s agenda extends with it.
• Sign — the player becomes permanent and keeps all their history (evaluations, load, attendance). This action cannot be undone.
• Don’t sign — the player is archived, their future call-ups are cancelled and their notifications disabled. The report is required (the scorecard ratings stay optional, e.g. if they never showed up); it remains readable on their page, like the rest of the history. This action cannot be undone.

Caution

Once the expected end passes without a decision, the trial switches to Decision due: you get a reminder and the player page shows a banner until you decide or extend.

Reopening a former trial

A not signed player doesn’t reactivate like a regular player: their way back is a new trial period.

1. Open Roster → Manual entry and enter the same phone number as their first stint.
2. STRIVN recognises the archived player and offers: “[Name] is an archived player already using this phone number. Reopen them as a new trial?”
3. Confirm with Reopen [Name] on trial — a fresh trial record is created with its own dates, and the first stint’s history (report included) stays readable in the Trial tab.

Note

The Reactivate button on the player page is deliberately not offered for a not-signed player: a plain reactivation would make them permanent without a decision. The path above guarantees every return is a deliberate trial.
